October 6, 2013 will be a milestone for the Castro Street Fair as we mark the 40th anniversary of our event. The Fair is part of the enduring legacy of Harvey Milk, who founded the Fair in 1974.
The Castro Street Fair gives sponsors an opportunity to connect with a large and diverse crowd that consists mostly of residents from the local Castro neighborhood and the greater Bay Area. Annually, we have more than 50,000 attendees at the Fair, distribute 10,000 Official Programs in San Francisco, and have more than 3-million hits on our website.
The Castro Street Fair is a thriving arts and culture event – with multiple stages of live entertainment, dance areas, fine arts, interactive performance art, and street theater. More than 180 local entertainers perform annually; and more than 200 vendors and community groups set up exhibits at the event. Add the tasty food offerings and adult beverage booths, and you’ve got the recipe for a great day in one of the most fabulous neighborhoods in San Francisco.
2013 will be a celebration of our history and a nod to our future. Our entertainment line-up will pay tribute to some of the original performers at the Fair, as well as highlight the four decades of music that have been the soundtrack of the Fair for the past 40 years.
